Two industrial ammonia heat pumps deliver more than 3.1 MW of sustainable process heat

For an industrial customer, we have supplied and installed two ammonia heat pumps. Together, these systems deliver well over 3.100 kW heating capacity at a water outlet temperature of 87 °C. This makes them a powerful and sustainable solution for upgrading waste heat within the production process.

High-temperature installation

The heat pumps consist of:

  • 1 industrial ammonia heat pump of 2.2 MW
  • 1 920 kW ammonia heat pump
    Both systems are designed to deliver water at 87 °C, a temperature that is directly applicable in various plant-specific processes.

Upgrading waste heat from 56 °C to 87 °C

The customer supplies a waste heat stream with a temperature of 56 °C. This heat is efficiently upgraded by the heat pumps to
87 °C. The heated warm water is reused elsewhere in the plant for other process steps, significantly increasing the overall energy efficiency of the site.

Major climate and cost savings

By utilizing residual heat that would otherwise be lost, the facility significantly reduces the energy demand from fossil sources. This results in:

  • a substantial CO₂ emission reduction
  • structural savings on energy costs
  • sustainability of the heat supply inside the factory

This heat pump system thereby makes a direct contribution to the customer's sustainability goals and to a better climate.
